CELEBRATION OF THE SOLSTICE

Monday 21 June 2021 from 8.30 p.m. to 10 p.m. (Milan time)

We will meet at the solstice, when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky and gives us the longest day of the year officially heralding the start of the summer season, here in the north of the planet. In the south of the world, today marks the start of the winter season and the days begin to lengthen.

THE SOLSTICE

The sun, which is the main source of life for us, changes its path over the horizon and seems to stop (solstice comes from the Latin solstat, ‘the sun stops’) for a few days at a precise point, rising and setting in the same position, until it resumes its descending path in the north and ascending path in the south on 24 June.

Since ancient times and all over the world, the two solstices have been the occasion for celebrations (e.g. bonfires) celebrating light, growth, fertility and the infinite possibilities that life offers us. It is certainly also a time to contact gratitude for all that we have already achieved.

We will therefore talk about the archetypes of summer and winter, the growth and maturing of nature and then its period of rest. In summer the grain in the fields, the fruit on the trees speak to us of abundance, maturity and fullness. The sun transmits its energy and its warmth brings us happiness and light-heartedness, joy and laughter, moments of expression and sharing. Winter, on the other hand, invites us to reflection, transformation and rebirth, preparing us to welcome a new year full of prosperity.

Let us celebrate these moments together, wishing each other a beautiful future.
